Ashley Ann Cariño Barreto was a favourite of the crowd ever since the beginning of the competition. Ashley Ann is a 27 year-old graduate of Space Engineering at the Florida Central University.

Ashley previously competed at Miss USA 2021 where she placed second runner-up. Ashley will definitely be a strong contest for the Miss Universe 2022 crown.

Ashley succeeds Universe Puerto Rico 2021 Michelle Colon who represented Puerto Rico at Miss Universe 2021 and placed in the Top 10 finalists. Puerto Rico boasts 5 Miss Universe titleholders making it as one of the strongest countries in the pageant. However, the county’s last victory was back in 2006.
